English Story

"Now the people of Varanasi also knew the importance of Tulsidasa's devotion and English Story they also started on the path of devotion. The people of Varanasi built a big monastery there so that Tulsidasa could give bhajans, kirtans and sermons. All the people there started coming there and enjoying the devotion of the Lord. Tulsidasa's melodious voice mesmerized all the people. Thus, the bhajans that Tulsidas used to sing, now people began to sing them at other times as well. The whole atmosphere of Varanasi changed and became very devotional.

One day the kirtan was going on at night. All the devotees were engrossed in it. After the Kirtan ended, two thieves entered the monastery of Tulsidas. The thieves took bundles of the property of the monastery and ran away from the ashram. But as they ran, they were intercepted English Story by the servant guards near the door. Suddenly, seeing them in front of them, the thief was very scared. Where did these strong guards come from where there are not always guards? Such a question came to the mind of the thieves. They dropped the stolen bundles there and started running from there. But the guards kept them. They held the thieves until dawn.

At dawn, devotees gathered for Kakad Aarti. Tulsidas also came to Aarti. By then the guards had left. As soon as Tulsidas arrived, the thieves held their feet and confessed their crime.

Tulsidas intuitively understood that Rama-Lakshmana had actually come last night as a watchman of the monastery so that he could catch the thieves.

Then Tulsidas said to the thieves, "Take as much money as you want from this bundle. You have seen Ramdarshan today very easily. Because the guards who caught you were actually Ram-Lakshman."

The thieves thought that the Lord himself had stopped them as guards and when they realized how vile they were doing, the thieves changed their minds after which they became very ardent devotees of Chor Tulsidas and started serving in the monastery of Varanasi.
