English Story
One day Guru English Story Jnandeva was engaged in meditation on the bank of a river. Then one of his disciples came to him. He placed two priceless pearls at his feet as a sign of devotion and dedication to the Guru. Those pearls were Dakshina to the Guru from him. At the touch of the pearls the Guru opened his eyes and asked the disciple, "What is all this?"
The disciple said, "Guruji, this pearl is my Gurudakshina to you. Please accept it."
The Guru took both the pearls in his hand, one of them slipped out of his hand and fell into the river. The disciple jumped into the water. He was looking for the pearl for a long time. Finally, in despair, he asked the English Story Guru, "Have you seen where the pearl fell! If you tell me the place, I will find it and bring it back to you."
The Guru picked up another pearl and throwing it into the river said, "There it fell."
Seeing his behavior, the disciple realized that this precious pearl might be of value to him, but the Guru had no need for it. He had resorted to the wrong object in the form of giving Dakshina.
Bodh
From this you understand that the knowledge gained through Guru is very precious, we cannot put any price on it.
