Chatur Nyaymurti English Story

 English Story

A man sold his well to his neighbor. When the new owner went to draw water from the well, the first owner of the well would not let him fill it with water.

The surprised new English Story owner asked him, 'Oh! I bought your land by paying full price, why don't you let me fill it with water?'

The old owner said, 'I have only sold you the well. I have not sold any of the water in it. So you have no right to that water at all.'

Angered by this strange argument, the new owner of the well went to court. The judge called both the new and old owners of the well and asked the old owner, 'Is it true that you sold your well to your neighbor?'

The old owner - Yes. But since the sale deed of the well mentions that I have sold only the well to him, my neighbor has absolutely no right to the water in that well.

Nyayamurti - What you are saying is absolutely 100 percent correct.

Old owner - (joyfully) Nyayamurti! Do you also think I am right? You would think so. But despite this, my neighbor, having bought only that well, is claiming the right to the water in it!

Nyayamurti - That is Hindi Story wrong, but at the same time, despite selling your well, you are using it to store water. So, as long as you continue to use that well like this, you should pay fifty rupees as rent every day to your neighbor, who is now the owner of that well.'

As soon as Nyayamurti said Marathi Story this, the man surrendered to him and, apologizing for his crime, admitted that he had sold the well to his neighbor along with the water.
